Deaf Awareness Courses
Hi Kent can provide Deaf Awareness training for any front-line staff whose job brings them into contact with members of the public. The Course lasts half a day, and the information is presented in an enjoyable, inclusive style that staff will engage with and find invaluable. The course can be delivered anywhere in the South East region, mornings/afternoons/evenings or weekends, and will help your workforce to provide an even better service for those one in six members of the community who have a hearing loss.
We run weekly Lipreading classes all over the county, the majority of which are free of charge. Learning to Lipread greatly improves confidence, enabling a person with a hearing loss to regain the ability to take part in conversations, meetings and participate in social activities.

Our support groups for people with tinnitus have bee meeting regularly in Maidstone, Ashford and Pembury. We have added new meetings in new locations for 2017. The groups have been set up to allow people with tinnitus to meet together, share experiences and access information. About 10% of adults, or 6 million people in the UK, have constant mild tinnitus. Up to 70% of people aged over 70 have tinnitus, so there is a real need for these groups. Attendance is free of charge.
