Ear Care Service and Wax Removal
A build up of wax in the ear canal is common and can cause significant discomfort and unpleasant symptoms including:
- blocked sensations
- hearing loss
- ear pain
- tinnitus
- inability to hear, even with hearing aids
- Vertigo (dizzy spells)
2/3 of GP surgeries no longer offer ear checks or wax removal services. Those who are still able to access the service on the NHS, experiencing long delays on waiting lists.
For people who cannot get this treatment via their GP practice, or choose not to wait, and would prefer to get the issue resolved quickly and safely, HI Kent are able to offer advice and guidance on wax management, treatment, and wax removal. This is at a reasonable cost with a professionally trained, trusted, and qualified Ear Care Practitioner. Our Ear Care Practitioner can carry out an ear examination, followed by wax removal via Microsuction, if removal is required.
What is Microsuction?
Microsuction is considered a safer method of wax removal than the traditional syringing treatment. Rather than forcing water into the ear canal at pressure, which can cause damage to ear drums, increase the likelihood of ear infections and leave water in the ear canal, Microsuction involves inserting a small sterile suction tube into the ear canal to meet the wax and gently remove the wax from the ear.
It may be necessary to treat your ear with oil or drops before Microsuction. Our practitioner will examine your ear and discuss any necessary treatment with you before proceeding.
In some cases, a follow up appointment will be required.
